Magellan Publications explores cello repertoire that is either not easily available elsewhere or was published using obsolete notations. Each edition includes biographical information about the composer and the most relevant information about historical performance practices.
Our first publication was Ethel Smyth's cello sonata in C minor, which she composed c1880 in Leipzig. A new edition is now available, printed on a larger paper size and with improved layout. It was transcribed from her manuscript in the British Library and edited by George Kennaway, who also wrote an introduction to the history of the work and highlighted the more important editorial choices.
Since then we've published sonatas by Joseph Tillière, François Martin, Jean Raoul, Stefano Galeotti, Jean Triklir, and Walter Clagget. Our latest publication is the set of six sonatas by Louis-Charles-Joseph Rey (1737-1811) published c1775-85.
